With over 25 years playing and studying guitar, Matthew Barnes is a passionate performer, composer, and teacher in equal measure. Drawing on a wide variety of musical influences, his goal is to redefine how music is taught and understood in the 21st century.

Matt is experienced with a number of instruments, but his primary focus is guitar, bass, and ukulele—holding a Bachelor of Music with a major in Contemporary Performance (Guitar). He is also passionate about music theory, particularly the influence of different technologies on musical decisions and our experience of sound.

Matt is a committed life-long learner and his favourite aspect of teaching is the shared process of discovery; with the teacher often learning just as much as the student.
